If you appreciate the feeling of sweat on your forehead, the sense of accomplishment at the end of a long day, or the pride in calloused hands, Anderson Columbia may have a place for you.Starting Rate - $19.75 - $23.75 DOE*Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. is hiring a Groundsman at our Asphalt Plant in Conroe.Requirements:Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as neededMust be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to read and interpret gaugesMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipmentMust be service oriented with proven ability to work in a team environmentMust be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisionsMust be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible mannerThis job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoesMust be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basisMust be able to use tools such as brooms/mops, shovels, weed eater, wheelbarrow and similar to perform dutiesMust be able to stoop, bend and lift 100 lbs from ground to waist level on a repetitive basisMust be able to work at various heightsMust have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controlsPossess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feetMust be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and serviceMust be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicleMust be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per dayMust be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.Responsibilities:The laborer/helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as neededSchedules may change from time-to-time, depending on business needsMaintain a clean and safe work environmentThese duties include primarily shoveling spillage areas, also to include lubricating machinery, monitor the plant, heavy ground maintenance, and inspect plant dailyMaintains yard and equipmentCleans conveyor belt areas and performs minor preventive maintenance and replaces worn/damaged components as neededAssists with other maintenance as neededFollow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies, MSHA, TCEQ and other regulatorsAssist with operation of other equipmentAdhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulationsPerform duties with minimum supervisionPerforms other duties as assignedMust possess the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles, team player with strong interpersonal skills, dedicated and hard working.Must pass a pre-employment drug test/heavy demand physical.Must have reliable transportation.Benefits:401KVisionMedicalDentalDFW / EOEDisclaimerThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
