Clinical Educator I - Travel

Position Summary The Clinical Educator I - Travel ensures that Sterile Processing staff, both internal and external to STERIS, are properly trained and operating within the guidelines set forth by various industry standards and regulations including, but not limited to HSPA, CBSPD, AORN, The Joint Commission, FDA, CDC, DNV OSHA, AAMI and those of STERIS and its customer facilities. Performs various educational duties under supervision and guidance from Manager, Clinical Education, and/or onsite operations leadership. Potential to support and work alongside all instrument processing solutions to include but not limited to continuous improvement, off site reprocessing centers and/or outsourced engagements. Travel positions require up to 100% domestic travel. Duties What you'll do as a Clinical Educator:
Pay range for this opportunity is $68,637.50 - $88,825.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. - Design and implement comprehensive training plans aligned with facility priorities and individual staff development needs.
- Facilitate multi-week, hands-on training programs for all new Sterile Processing team members to ensure readiness and compliance from day one.
- Maintain detailed documentation of training activities and regularly review programs to ensure alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Conduct regular evaluations to identify skill gaps and create targeted development plans for continuous team improvement.
- Develop and deliver ongoing education sessions focused on the latest products, technologies, and best practices in Sterile Processing.
- Partner with clinical and administrative teams to ensure training initiatives support broader organizational goals.
- Foster a learning environment that encourages professional growth, accountability, and high performance.
- Effectively works with contracted facility to ensure employees are effectively trained on all required competency skill levels
- Conducts sterile processing employee assessments of job performance to policy and standard work; identifies competency deficiencies and conducts effective training to eliminate gaps
- Participates and assists in new hire orientation and on the job, training as directed by the Education Manager and/or operations leadership.
- Completes and maintains training records, employee education files and documentation of competency skill level.
- Ensures employee training files and documentation of competency skill levels and certifications are up to date in the company database and accurately reflect the employees' job-related responsibilities.
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of multi-specialty instrumentation and serves as a resource for staff in SPD.
- Provides re-education training and communication for performance issues found in the OR and instrumentation tray audits.
- Conducts employee assessments and trains to deficiencies noted.
- Aid in the on-going development of staff education by providing in-services to staff at a cadence determined by Education Manager and/or operations leadership.
- Adjust schedule to work with all employees on all shifts to ensure training needs are met and supported. Ability to work pre-arranged weekend, night, and evening hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate effectively with manager, coworkers, and all levels of hospital staff.
- Demonstrated customer centric behavior. Proficient analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, and resolve issues in complex situations.
- Requires thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and is capable of learning software.
- Ability to multi-task projects including the ability to plan and organize.
- Flexible and self-motivated.
- Ability to read and understand applicable Standard Operating Procedures
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3+ years training experience required
- 3+ years Sterile Processing experience required
- CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification required
- CER (HSPA) or CFER (CBSPD) certification required within 6 months of hire date or promotion
- CIS (HSPA) or CSIS (CBSPD) or CST (NBSTSA) certification required within 1 year of hire date or promotion
- Must maintain certification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours each year, or more if required for a specific certification
- Must maintain valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and be available to operate a vehicle as needed to meet travel requirements
- Must be able to travel across the US and pass the Customer's background and medical standards.
- Associates Degree preferred
