Job Title:  Senior Scala Engineer

Job Type:  Contract 

Job Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Work Schedule:  Onsite

Description:

We are looking for a Senior Scala Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable software applications and data-processing systems. The ideal candidate has strong programming fundamentals and experience building backend services, APIs, and distributed systems using Scala.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using Scala.
• Build scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed applications.
• Work with databases, messaging systems, and cloud platforms.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and production issues.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, DevOps, data engineers, and product teams.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Develop automated unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Monitor and improve application performance and reliability.
• Follow software engineering best practices for security, CI/CD, and version control.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years as a software engineer in Scala
• Strong functional programming concepts.
• Experience with JVM technologies and Java.
• Strong in REST APIs and microservices
• Strong in Apache Spark
• Strong in Kafka
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with SQL and relational or NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with Akka, Cats, ZIO, Play Framework, or similar Scala technologies.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD tools.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Required:

• Very strong and proven experience in building platforms in Streaming and Messaging
• troubleshooting and solving problems.
• Changing the way technology works together to optimize the solution/ process
• very strong in Linux programming and distributed systems
• very strong in a few of the following technologies -

  • Apache Kafka
  • Rabbit MQ
• Language : Scala
