Heavy Equipment Operator II

Operator II – Job Summary Operates a variety of equipment in asphalt and heavy highway construction safely and efficiently to achieve production goals. Performs proper daily inspections, lubrication, cleanings, and maintenance to keep equipment up to operational standards. Responsibilities Operating a variety of equipment including motor graders, excavators, front‑end loaders, rubber‑tire backhoes, and dozers. Intermediate knowledge and ability to operate within the functions and limits of the equipment being used. Guiding placement of equipment, spotters, and trucks to perform required tasks safely and efficiently. Checking grades, yields, and communicating with QC on smoothness and densities. Keeping equipment and site housekeeping clean. Assessing daily job and production plans for efficiencies and potential safety concerns. Using 3‑D automated machine controls. Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment. Performing other duties on site when not operating equipment. Following all safety protocols. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures. Individually lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs. Push and pull weights up to 70 lbs. Observe all safety protocols. Experience / Skills Required Minimum of 3 years of experience in the road or construction field, working outdoors in extreme weather. Ability to read, understand, and write simple sentences, and perform simple mathematical equations. Equipment Requirements Must have experience operating at least three or more pieces of asphalt equipment, such as paver, screed, motor grader, front‑end loader, rubber‑tire backhoe, excavator, or dozer.
