Job Summary
The Regional Controller, working with the parent company CFO, is responsible for leading and overseeing the accounting and financial operations of the Company and its affiliated locations and entities. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial reporting while providing leadership and oversight of accounting functions across multiple business locations.

This is a hands-on leadership role that oversees the day-to-day accounting cycle while also establishing standardized accounting practices, internal controls, reporting processes, and financial procedures across other locations. The Regional Controller is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, budgeting support, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance.

The Regional Controller partners closely with executive leadership, operational leaders, and accounting personnel at each location to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and consistent. This position provides financial analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making, operational performance, profitability, and the Company's long-term growth.

The ideal candidate is a strong accounting leader who is comfortable operating in a multi-entity environment, managing competing priorities, developing accounting staff, and creating scalable financial processes.

G e n e r a l R e s p o n s i b ili t i e s
Accounting Leadership & Multi-Location Oversight

• Provide leadership and oversight of accounting operations across the Company's locations and affiliated entities.
• Oversee and coordinate accounting personnel responsible for local or entity-level accounting functions.
• Establish consistent accounting processes, procedures, controls, and reporting standards across all locations.
• Ensure accounting teams are appropriately trained and following established accounting policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to accounting personnel at each location.
• Identify opportunities to centralize, standardize, automate, or improve accounting processes.
• Promote collaboration and effective communication among accounting personnel and business leaders across all entities.
• Ensure consistency in financial reporting while recognizing the operational needs and differences of individual locations.

General Accounting & Financial Operations

• Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, payroll support, fixed assets, and general ledger activities.
• Oversee accounting activities performed at individual locations to ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting transactions as appropriate.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger across all entities.
• Monitor the accounting cycle to ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
• Research and resolve complex accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
• Maintain appropriate supporting documentation for significant accounting transactions.
• Ensure accounting activities are completed in accordance with Company policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Month-End, Quarter-End & Year-End Close

• Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for multiple entities.
• Coordinate month-end close responsibilities among accounting personnel across locations.
• Review completion of account reconciliations and investigate outstanding reconciling items.
• Review accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, fixed assets, and other adjusting entries.
• Ensure all locations complete assigned close responsibilities within established deadlines.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues that could delay or impact the financial close.
• Review entity-level financial results prior to consolidation and executive reporting.
• Support the preparation of consolidated financial reporting where applicable.
• Lead year-end accounting activities and coordinate required information for external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Ensure financial reporting is timely, accurate, and consistent across all locations and entities.
• Review entity-level financial performance and identify significant trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare consolidated financial reporting and supporting schedules as required.
• Develop and maintain standardized financial reporting packages for leadership and management.
• Provide meaningful financial analysis to executive and operational leadership.
• Analyze actual results compared to budget, forecast, prior periods, and operational expectations.
• Assist leadership in understanding the financial drivers of profitability and operational performance.
• Identify unusual financial trends or performance concerns and communicate findings to leadership.

• Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Financial Support
• Lead or support the annual budgeting and financial forecasting process across multiple locations.
• Coordinate the collection and review of financial information from individual entities and departments.
• Monitor budget performance and provide regular variance analysis.
• Partner with operational leaders to evaluate financial performance and future projections.
• Support strategic planning by providing financial analysis, modeling, and recommendations.
• Assist leadership with evaluating business opportunities, capital expenditures, growth initiatives, and operational investments.
• Develop financial models and reporting tools that support informed decision-making.
• Provide financial insight regarding pricing, profitability, margins, and business performance.

Internal Controls, Policies & Process Improvement

• Ensure internal controls are consistently followed across locations.
• Identify control weaknesses, financial risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Implement corrective actions and process improvements when needed.
• Maintain appropriate separation of duties and financial approval processes.
• Develop standardized accounting workflows that support consistency and scalability.
• Improve accounting systems and reporting processes through automation and technology.
• Document accounting procedures and ensuring knowledge is appropriately shared among accounting personnel.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

• Monitor Company and entity-level cash flow and working capital needs.
• Review cash balances and anticipated cash requirements.
• Monitor Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable trends.
• Support leadership in managing collections, vendor obligations, and working capital.
• Monitor credit card reconciliations and other cash-related accounting activities.
• Provide recommendations to optimize cash flow and financial resources.
• Assist with cash forecasting and liquidity planning.

Compliance, Tax & Audit Support

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, and Company policies.
• Oversee sales and use tax reporting and other applicable tax-related accounting activities.
• Oversee workers' compensation reporting, insurance audits, and other financial compliance activities.
• Ensure appropriate accounting documentation is maintained to support tax filings and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate and support external audits, reviews, and other financial examinations.
• Prepare and organize schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for external accountants and auditors.
• Monitor compliance requirements across all locations and ensure required financial reporting is completed timely.

Leadership & Business Partnership

• Serve as a strategic financial partner to executive and operational leadership.
• Provide financial insight and recommendations that support business objectives and long-term growth.
• Partner with department leaders to support operational initiatives, project costing, commissions, pricing, and financial planning.
• Participate as an active member of the leadership team.
• Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to leaders who may not have an accounting background.
• Support leadership in evaluating operational and financial performance.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on financial controls, accounting processes, and financial decision-making.
• Perform additional financial, operational, and administrative duties as assigned.

Q u a li f i c a t i o n s
Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
• Experience overseeing the full accounting cycle and month-end close process.
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analysis.
• Experience managing accounting operations across multiple locations, business units, or legal entities strongly preferred.
• Experience reviewing or supporting consolidated financial reporting preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting external audits and working with outside accountants and tax advisors.
• Previous experience in construction, landscaping, manufacturing, private equity, or other project-based or multi-entity industries is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Accounting & Financial Expertise

• Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong understanding of the complete accounting cycle and financial close process.
• Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting and entity-level financial reporting.
• Experience with general ledger management, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and cash flow management.
• Ability to analyze complex financial information and identify meaningful trends and risks.
• Understanding of consolidated financial reporting is preferred.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.
• Ability to learn and implement new financial systems and reporting tools.
• Experience with financial reporting, dashboard, and business intelligence tools is preferred.

Work Schedule

• This is a full-time position.
• Travel between Company locations may be required.
• Occasional evenings or weekends may be required during month-end, year-end, audit periods, or other critical business cycles.
