Overview Position: Radiology Technologist Assistant (Urgent Care) – Brentwood, IL. Regular worker type. 36 hours per week. Urgent care setting within the SSM Health network. Responsibilities Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide appropriate educational material. Transport patients to and from clinical areas; verify patient identity according to policies and procedures. Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning the patient for the procedure. Assist with filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts; match films to folders; deliver reports to patient units/physicians. Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to minimize patient exposure. Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable regulations. Observe patients during procedures and report abnormal activity. Monitor protocols and recommend updates as warranted. Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers, patient data/history). Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or malfunction to appropriate personnel; lock/tag out equipment if appropriate. Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and film storage. May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site. Work with vigilance and in a safe manner; perform other duties as assigned. Education Completion of a Radiology Technology program. Experience No experience required. Physical Requirements Constant standing and walking; frequent use of vision and depth perception. Frequent use of hearing and speech for communication; ability to hear alarms and machinery sounds. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects; occasional lifting of 25–50 lbs; frequent lifting of patients; repetitive movements. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting; occasional kneeling and sitting. Licenses and Certifications State of Work Location (Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin) – Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) from American Heart Association (AHA). ARRT-R Radiography – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Additional state-specific radiologic technologist credentials as required (e.g., IEMA, Wisconsin DSPS).
