Retro Custom Metals is hiring a Metal Roll Forming Technician to take ownership of in-house metal fabrication while supporting warehouse and delivery operations. This is a hands-on production role for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing high-quality materials that crews rely on every day.

What You’ll Do

Roll Forming & Fabrication

• Set up and operate metal roofing roll forming machines (panels, trim, coil processing)
• Adjust rollers, guides, and cutoffs for different profiles, gauges, and materials
• Measure, cut, and produce accurate panels and components to spec
• Run first-piece checks and verify accuracy before full production

Quality Control

• Perform in-process and final inspections on all fabricated materials
• Identify and prevent issues like oil canning, waviness, misalignment, or coating damage
• Ensure all materials meet job specs before leaving the shop

Production Workflow

• Read and execute work orders, cut lists, and job specifications
• Prioritize fabrication based on crew schedules and install timelines
• Communicate with office/production team on material readiness

Material & Coil Handling

• Load/unload and stage metal coils and materials safely
• Track material usage, remnants, and waste
• Assist with inventory and notify team of shortages

Warehouse & Deliveries

• Pull and stage materials for crews
• Pick up materials from vendors and deliver to job sites
• Load/unload trucks and trailers and ensure deliveries are accurate and complete
• Secure loads properly to prevent damage in transit

Equipment & Maintenance

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on roll formers, shears, and shop equipment
• Inspect machines for wear and troubleshoot minor issues
• Keep equipment clean, operational, and production-ready

Shop Organization & Safety

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop/yard
• Follow all safety procedures when handling equipment and materials
• Safely operate forklifts, trailers, and fabrication equipment

What Success Looks Like

• Panels and trim are produced accurately the first time
• Crews receive correct materials on time, every time
• Minimal waste, rework, or jobsite issues
• Shop stays clean, organized, and running efficiently

Requirements

• Valid Utah driver’s license + clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
• Comfortable pulling and backing trailers (up to 20 ft)
• Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving ability
• Reliable and punctual (critical to production flow)
• Strong attention to detail and measurement accuracy
• Comfortable using smartphone apps (Google Maps, Calendar, etc.)

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience with roll forming or metal roofing equipment
• Roofing or sheet metal fabrication experience
• Forklift certification
• Experience with coil-fed machinery (gutter, trim, or panel systems)
• Ability to read construction drawings or roof plans
• Familiarity with standing seam systems or metal roofing components

Work Environment

• Shop + warehouse + job site deliveries
• Active, physical role (not a desk job)
• Fast-paced production environment tied directly to field crew
