Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift: 3x12.0 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory care and patient transport, as medically prescribed and within the scope of professional licensing. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients upon discharge.

Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers for administering medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.

Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning via multiple methods, including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.

Utilize oximetry and capnography monitoring per policy.

Review patient's chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies according to policy.

Assist with respiratory procedures, including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.

Perform arterial puncture as per policy, monitoring and reporting test results accurately.

Conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Maintain accurate respiratory therapy documentation, including patient response and treatment records.

Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient therapy efficiency.

Facilitate preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.

Current license as a Respiratory Therapist.

Certification in BLS and ACLS.

Experience in a clinical respiratory therapy setting preferred.
