Senior Estimator (Cranford, NJ)

Position Overview The Estimator is responsible for gathering details and compiling data to estimate all production costs according to bid documents. The Estimator is responsible for material takeoffs, cost analysis, preparation, and presentation of discipline estimates for large and complex projects. The position also involves the maintenance of historical databases while assisting in the development of department procedures. The targeted markets include, but are not limited to, civil and marine construction. Location This position will be located in Weeks Construction Cranford, NJ. Regional travel for pursuits may be required. Responsibilities Analyze plans and specifications Perform site visit(s) and meet with owners and designers if required Prepare take‑offs Prepare budgetary estimates Establish means and methods of construction and perform engineering analyses to support those means and methods Prepare cost analyses for certain or all portions of the projects Solicit quotes from subcontractors and vendors Prepare construction schedule and perform cash‑flow analyses Close out bids and assist in preparation of supporting documentation From time to time, visit projects and prepare cost analyses Qualifications 10+ years of experience in Heavy Civil Marine Construction with at least 3 years in estimating preferred Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology/Management required Proficient skills in standard computer software packages Supervisory experience preferred Fluent use of the verbal and written English language Experience interacting with engineers and other interdisciplinary teams Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans and specifications Other Requirements Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. May work at various different locations (conditions may vary) Compensation Base Compensation: $117,000/yr – $154,000/yr (actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skill set, and/or location).
