Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3 shifts per week Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 0 - 6 months of related experience License: Valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, NRP, proof of instruction/passage of Intermediate FH Monitoring Must-Have: Minimum 1 year experience Description: The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. Utilizes the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. Completes assessment and individualizes plan of care within established guidelines. Carries out nursing care with consideration for cultural and psychosocial factors. Organizes, prioritizes, and performs nursing skills appropriate for the patient population. Anticipates patient and unit needs. Demonstrates sound knowledge base in the bio-psychosocial model. Delegates and communicates effectively and appropriately. Demonstrates professional judgment in response to changing situations. Documents steps of the nursing process and care accurately and legibly. Records data concisely and uses correct medical terminology and abbreviations. Addresses problems and tracks progress toward outcomes according to unit policy. Facilitates patient teaching during discharge. Makes timely and appropriate referrals. Utilizes resources in planning and presenting patient education. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. Supports unit and hospital goals through professional development and educational activities. Attends mandatory in-services and meets educational standards. Accurately completes variance reports. Exercises independent judgment in planning operations and making decisions. Works directly with patients and other healthcare professionals. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
