Must-Have: Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients; management of TR band compression devices; management of chest pain; experience with post-cardiac surgical patients

Description: Department: Medical Surgical/Intermediate Care RN

The unit has a total of 29 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 on days through 2300 and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300. Common diagnoses include cardiac medical and surgical issues such as post cath lab procedures, post cardiac surgeries, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, congestive heart failure, and arrhythmias. RNs are required to titrate drips which include nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, bumex, and dobutamine; however, no vasopressors are utilized. A 24/7 telemetry unit monitors all non-critical care patients and manages telemetry strips. Charge nurses take a modified assignment while following established protocols. Nurse aides are present on the unit with a ratio of 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on evenings, and 1:15 after 2300. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 to assist with nebulizers and other equipment. Registered nurses are responsible for incentive spirometry. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other weekend and holiday. Floating may be required based on unit census. Scrubs are not provided, and there is no specific scrub color required. The unit requires one shift of HR onboarding and one shift on the unit for orientation. All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility.
