Healthcare Solutions Lead - Vertical Builders

Role Overview We’re hiring a Healthcare Solutions Lead - Vertical Builders to help build Protege’s motion with healthcare vertical builders — application‑layer companies building AI products within healthcare. This role sits at the intersection of customers, data partners, data science, product, and engineering, and is responsible not just for delivering against customer needs, but for helping design the solution set and way of working for this segment from the ground up. Unlike our work with foundation labs, this segment requires a fundamentally different motion. These customers are not typically licensing large pre‑training datasets. Success will depend on strong discovery, sharp technical judgment, and the ability to figure out what actually resonates with healthcare application builders — whether that is evaluation data, benchmarks, data processing, fit‑for‑purpose datasets, or another scoped solution entirely. This is a true 01 role. The right person will help define how Protege serves this market: how we scope and package work, how we decide what is repeatable versus bespoke, and how we turn early engagements into a scalable offering over time. At Protege, the Solutions Lead is the owner of the engagement from the solutions side: you help lead discovery, define scope, run feasibility, analyze data, and drive delivery once a path is defined. You will pair tightly with the Account Manager – Vertical Builders on the commercial team to understand customer needs, evaluate and construct datasets, and build a repeatable motion together. You will often also be paired with a Forward Deployed Engineer on active engagements — the Solutions Lead owns the engagement and customer workstream, while the FDE owns the technical build and last‑mile implementation. This is a highly cross‑functional, high‑judgment role for someone who can operate with strong customer instincts, deep healthcare data science fluency, and exceptional execution discipline. It is a role for a builder in the fullest sense: someone energized by ambiguity, excited to create structure where little exists today, and motivated by the challenge of building a new motion from scratch. What You’ll Do Partner tightly with the Account Manager – Vertical Builders to lead discovery with healthcare vertical builders and understand where Protege can create real value for this segment. Help define what Protege should actually sell into this market, including which offerings resonate, which are repeatable, and which are too bespoke to scale. Own feasibility, shape fit‑for‑purpose datasets or workflows, and move projects from concept to delivery with support from DataLab, Product, and Engineering. Manage end‑to‑end execution across multiple concurrent projects, keeping timelines, dependencies, risks, and next steps tightly organized. Effectively communicate across engagements, ensuring requirements are understood early, changes are managed transparently, and risks are anticipated. Oversee QA, packaging, and delivery of complex healthcare datasets, including EHR, claims, imaging, pathology, and unstructured clinical text. Build the working model for this segment over time: how discovery is run, how engagements are scoped, how tradeoffs are made, and how early wins turn into a durable playbook. What Success Looks Like In this role, success means we get smarter and more repeatable in how we serve healthcare vertical builders. Customers trust you to understand their use case, shape the right solution, and drive clear execution. Internally, you help the company learn what actually lands in this segment — what customers value, what offerings are viable, what should remain bespoke, what can scale, and how the motion should evolve. Strong Solutions Leads at Protege combine customer ownership, analytical rigor, commercial curiosity, and operational follow‑through. They can go from an ambiguous customer conversation to a well‑scoped engagement — and, just as importantly, turn those early engagements into the foundations of a durable playbook for the market. First 30 Days Learns the healthcare vertical builder landscape, Protege's capabilities, and key internal workflows. Builds relationships across Commercial, Product, Engineering, DataLab, and Privacy. Dives into existing vertical builder work on feasibility, scoping, and delivery. Begins identifying common customer needs and solution patterns. First 60 Days Independently executes scoping and feasibility assessments for active engagements, including querying our data in house and producing dataset overviews and analyses for customers. Coordinates effectively across internal stakeholders and manages customer‑facing communication. Begins identifying repeatable opportunities, offerings, and delivery patterns. First 90 Days Owns multiple healthcare vertical builder engagements from discovery through delivery. Establishes repeatable frameworks for customer discovery, solution design, and execution. Helps shape Protege's healthcare motion by identifying what should scale, what should remain bespoke, and how the segment should evolve. What You Bring Proven experience in a customer‑facing solutions, delivery, technical GTM, or zero‑to‑one role where you owned outcomes across complex technical or data‑driven engagements. Deep familiarity with healthcare data and its major modalities, especially EHR, claims, imaging, pathology, and unstructured text. Strong analytical and program management skills — you can assess feasibility, support solution design, and keep multiple workstreams moving with rigor. Comfort working across commercial, technical, and scientific stakeholders, especially in discovery‑heavy environments where the right solution is not obvious at the outset. Strong product and commercial instincts: you can identify what customers actually value and help shape offerings that are useful, differentiated, and scalable. Familiarity with healthcare privacy, de‑identification, tokenization, and related compliance workflows. Experience in healthcare AI, ML products, enterprise data platforms, or similarly complex technical environments. A highly entrepreneurial, builder‑minded approach: you are excited by 01 work, comfortable developing a motion for a new segment from scratch, and able to create clarity, structure, and momentum in ambiguous environments.
