Title: Registered Nurse – Lactation Consultant (Postpartum)

Location: Seattle, WA - 98195
Schedule: Day Shift | 3x12-Hour | 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM
Contract Length: 13 Weeks with possible extension
Start Date: 06/08/2026

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Lactation Consultant for a Postpartum Unit assignment in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will have strong postpartum and newborn care experience, IBCLC certification, and the ability to manage high-risk maternal and newborn patients in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive postpartum nursing care for maternal and newborn couplets
• Deliver lactation consultation and breastfeeding education to new mothers
• Perform newborn assessments, glucose screening, thermoregulation, phototherapy care, and medication administration
• Assist with postpartum recovery including fundus, lochia, incision, and perineal care
• Administer and monitor magnesium sulfate, insulin, heparin, and PCA/PCEA infusions
• Educate families on newborn care, circumcision care, car seat safety, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, social services, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Float to other perinatal units within the hospital as needed

Skills:

• Newborn assessments and couplet care
• Breastfeeding support and breast pump education
• Magnesium, insulin, heparin, and PCA/PCEA infusions
• Phototherapy and newborn medication administration
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Special Notes: RN must be skilled with newborn care: assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, medication administration; RN must be skilled with magnesium infusions, insulin infusions, PCA/PCEA infusions, heparin infusions

Requirements:

• Active RN License
• Minimum 2 years of RN postpartum/lactation experience
• Travel experience required
• IBCLC certification required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Epic charting experience required
