Location Highlights
Juneau offers waterfront access, mountain scenery, and a setting that blends outdoor adventure with a small-city pace.

Mendenhall Glacier is about 13 miles from downtown and offers trails, visitor access, and views of Tongass National Forest. The Mount Roberts Tramway rises from the cruise port area to alpine trails and overlooks, while Auke Bay provides whale-watching departures and boating access north of the city center. Juneau is accessible by air and ferry rather than road, and the downtown area includes the Alaska State Capitol and a walkable district with shops, restaurants, and harbor views.
