About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46801!

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, diabetes, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize Epic EHR for documentation, along with Pyxis, Hospira IV pumps, AccuCheck, and telemetry monitoring equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; expected patient ratio is 1:5-6

• Active Indiana RN license or compact RN license (compact eligibility as of 7/1/20) required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical experience at a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are welcome to apply and may be considered at an adjusted rate

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
• Experience managing complex patient populations including neurological, GI, and infectious disease cases
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and VTE prevention protocols

• Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment within a large regional medical center, gaining exposure to a broad and diverse patient population
• Comprehensive unit-specific orientation program included, featuring general hospital onboarding, nursing orientation days, and Epic training
