Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Psych

This position involves providing patient care in an adult psychiatric setting. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients experiencing mental health and behavioral challenges.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 10
• Patient Ratios: Nurses 8 to 1, Mental Health Technicians 12 to 1
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Staffing Requirements: Coverage for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.
• Floating Policy: Staff will float to areas of greatest need.

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' mental health status, recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral issues.
• Care Planning: Develop individualized care plans based on the unique needs of patients. Set goals, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes effectively.
• Medication Management: Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions. Knowledge of psychotropic medications is essential.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate and short-term support to patients in crisis, employing de-escalation techniques as necessary.
• Therapeutic Communication: Build trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills, active listening, and empathy.
• Monitoring: Observe patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs and changes in mental status.

Qualifications

• Active BLS certification required.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification required.
• Demonstrated ability to assess mental health status and manage medications.
• Strong skills in therapeutic communication and crisis intervention.

Dress Code

Required uniforms include navy blue for nurses and green or black for Mental Health Technicians.
