Position Overview:

The Finance Intern will complete a variety of finance and accounting duties with guidance from finance leads and under the supervision of site controllers. This internship will provide exposure to various aspects of the department and create the opportunity for meaningful work. The intern will have opportunities to engage with experienced professionals at their site in-person and across other sites on Teams in group and one-on-one settings.

Your Day to Day as a Finance Intern for Government Operations:

• Perform journal entries.
• Assist with financial modeling, analysis, and aspects of reporting.
• Support the budgeting process.
• Support automation projects and contribute to other high-value projects (enhanced analytics, system implementations, etc.) as available.
• Work as a team member in meeting the needs of the office staff, leaders, and customers.
• Provide excellent customer service to help customers and staff reach their goals.
• Evaluate current systems and procedures and make process improvement suggestions, including the use of AI.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a focus on Finance or another relevant field.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and handle multiple tasks successfully.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance.

Pay: $20.45 - $26.27

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $20.45 and $26.27 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
