The Drafting Technician supports engineering, surveying, and construction projects through the preparation of technical drawings, plan sets, exhibits, and construction documents. This position works closely with engineers, surveyors, project managers, and field personnel to develop accurate drafting deliverables for public works, utility, transportation, rail, commercial, and infrastructure projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Drafting & Design Responsibilities • Prepare engineering and survey drawings using CAD software. • Develop plan sheets, details, profiles, sections, and exhibits for construction documents. • Assist with drafting for roadway, grading, utility, drainage, and site development projects. • Incorporate redline markups and revisions into drawing sets. • Organize and maintain drawing files, project folders, and electronic records. • Assist with plotting, sheet setup, and document production. • Coordinate drafting standards and file management procedures. • Review plans for completeness, consistency, and drafting accuracy. • Prepare as-built drawings and record documents. • Support engineers and survey staff with project-related drafting tasks. Coordination Responsibilities • Communicate with project managers, engineers, survey crews, and contractors regarding drafting updates and revisions. • Assist with quantity takeoffs and project documentation. • Coordinate deadlines and deliverables across multiple projects. • Support proposal exhibits and presentation graphics when needed. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. • Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD technology, engineering technology, or related field preferred. • 1-5 years of drafting or CAD experience preferred. • Experience reading engineering plans and technical documents preferred. Preferred Software Experience • AutoCAD Civil 3D • AutoCAD • Carlson Survey • Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite • PDF markup and document management software Desired Skills • Strong attention to detail and organization. • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. • Understanding of drafting standards and engineering terminology. • Ability to interpret sketches, redlines, and engineering markups. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Willingness to learn and grow within the engineering and surveying industry.
