Health care services are provided at 6 locations, serving southwestern West Virginia, southeastern Ohio, and eastern Kentucky. Facilities include our Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, and four community-based outpatient clinics in Lenore, [W.Va]( South Charleston, WV; Gallipolis, Ohio; and Prestonsburg, Kentucky. We're an innovative care center within the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 5), which includes medical centers and clinics in Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. *Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): *May be Authorized *Pay:* Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases *Paid Time Off:* 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) *Retirement:* Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA *Insurance: *Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) *Licensure:* 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory *CME:* Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) *Malpractice:* Free liability protection with tail coverage provided *Contract:* No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting *Performance Pay:* Up to 15k annually This Physician is the Emergency Department within the Medical Service and practices at the independent clinical level of practice. The Physician has specialized knowledge of practice related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of Emergency Medicine conditions. *Major Duties but not limited to:* * Emergency Medicine physicians assess, evaluate, diagnose and initially treat patients in the Emergency Department with any symptom, illness or condition. * Stabilize patients with major illnesses or injuries and assess all patients to determine if additional care is necessary. * Perform or assist in related procedures. * Works as a member of the Emergency Medicine team at the Hershel "Woody" Williams campus of the Huntington VA Hospital. * There may be other duties as assigned or required. *Preferred Qualifications* * ABEM/AOBEM Board Certification * Experience with POCUS, procedural sedation, endotracheal intubation, and advanced emergency procedures * Prior experience in a VA or federal healthcare setting * Comfort with independent practice in a community-based emergency medicine environment *Work Schedule: *Rotating shifts; combination of 10-hour and 12-hour shifts. Night shift burden is minimal (approximately 6-7 nights per year). Weekend coverage is shared equitably across the physician team (approximately 18-22 weekends per year), consistent with community emergency medicine standards. No formal call schedule. Occasional voluntary coverage assistance may be requested in the event of unplanned absences.
