Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full-Time

Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate of Apis Services , is seeking compassionate and dependable individuals to join our team as Full -Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at our Emerson group home supporting individuals with disabilities.

Location: Emerson, NJ

Pay Rate: $18.36

Job Overview:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a member of the clinical team that provides compassionate care and assistance to individuals who struggle with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health challenges and require assistance to achieve their fullest potential. The DSP provides the assistance necessary to allow the clients we serve to live independently and ensure their wellness, health, and safety. The DSP, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides a wide range of services to meet the environmental, physical, psychosocial, and personal needs of the individuals in our care. The DSP embraces the mission of organization by fostering a culture of compassion, hope, service, and collaboration.

As a DSP, you will play a vital role in helping individuals live meaningful, independent lives while ensuring their safety and well-being during daytime and overnight hours.

Job Responsibilities:

Direct Support Professionals provide hands-on support, guidance, and encouragement to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting and teaching skills related to:

• Daily living (cooking, housekeeping, hygiene)
• Health and wellness (medication support, healthy living)
• Community involvement (shopping, recreation, transportation)
• Social development (communication, coping skills, friendships)
• Budgeting and money management
• Promoting independence, dignity, and choice

You’ll make a meaningful difference by helping individuals build confidence, life skills, and autonomy.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificate (required)

• Associate or bachelor's degree (preferred)

• Minimum 6 months to one (1) year direct experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or human services field (preferred)

• Clean motor vehicle record and valid driver’s license that's not suspended. (Must have has driver's license for at least three (3) years.

• Must be at minimum 21 years of age

Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings, including a background check, physical, and PPD
