Lead Cashier

Role Summary The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. The LC assists in training new cashiers and cross‑training other associates, demonstrates proactive collaboration, leads peers, and influences through performance and process focus. The LC supports leadership with open and close register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat in/outs. The role requires a passion for guest experience and a strong commitment to loyalty programs. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail sales, service sales, omni‑channel, guest loyalty, and shrink. Provide a guest‑friendly environment by greeting, engaging, and personalizing service. Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously. Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales. Book appointments and support service execution and in‑store events. Maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures for guest readiness. Maintain prompt, regular attendance. People Promote an inclusive environment for teammates and guests. Support leadership with cashier chat ins/out and associate exit inspections. Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services. Share and promote the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app. Assist in training new cashiers and cross‑training associates. Serve as a leader who engages and influences peers to peak productivity. Drive accountability in delivering an exceptional, personalized brand experience. Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education. Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business. Process Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards. Adhere to the dress code. Complete all transactions, including guest returns and associate transactions, while controlling cash and media. Execute select register open and close functions as directed. Maintain store cleanliness throughout the store. Protect company assets and minimize loss by following safety, inventory control, and loss prevention procedures. Perform other operational tasks as directed. Job Qualifications Education High school diploma preferred. Experience 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred. Proven ability to delegate, multi‑task, and problem‑solve. Knowledge and passion for guest service and selling. Experience addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally. Experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires. Skills Proficient with basic technology (e.g., POS system and Apple devices). Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills. Independent and team orientation. Strong customer relationship building. Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment, and adapt to ambiguity. Special Position Requirements Work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Lead Cashier role requires age 18 or older. Working Conditions Continuous mobility throughout the store. Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs. Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects. Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 – $26.00 per hour, dependent on education, experience, shift, location, and business factors. Eligible associates may earn overtime pay as required by law. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
