Location: 3550 Brewerton Road – North Syracuse, New York 13212 Job Summary Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our KeyBank communities. As a Teller, you provide excellent client service in-person by welcoming both new and existing clients to the Bank and assisting them with their account transactions and servicing needs, including identifying and resolving client servicing issues. Through conversations with clients, you help uncover financial needs and transition clients to a banker for deeper financial wellness conversations. Essential Functions Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially. Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of teller functions in an in‑person branch setting. Proactively work to identify and resolve client servicing issues, escalating as needed. Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and appropriately transition the client(s) to a Banker. Assist clients in achieving their financial goals and objectives through the use of financial wellness tools. Attend and participate in in‑person morning huddles and end‑of‑day debriefs. Follow compliance, audit and security procedures, and balance the cash drawer within balancing guidelines. Review and maintain knowledge of product guides, fees, and policies to stay current on offerings. Work on Saturdays as directed by management. Perform other duties as assigned; duties and responsibilities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including acting professionally, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients. Education High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required). Work Experience Experience in a client service role (required). Experience in cash handling (required). General understanding of PC with Windows‑based applications and calculator (required). Licenses and Certifications Notary License (preferred). Skills Knowledgeable about client accounts and business with the bank, using sound judgment in transactions. Strong sales and service skills, presenting products and services while proactively educating clients on available access channels (e.g., ATM, Online, Telephone Banking). Strong work ethic and high level of integrity. Excellent time‑management skills. Accurately and securely process cash transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and balancing cash drawers at the end of each shift. Ensure accuracy in transactions and maintain organized records. Identify opportunities to discuss financial wellness with clients, such as budgeting, saving, and planning for the future, and guide them to appropriate resources or bank services. Identify and resolve client servicing issues efficiently. Understand and follow banking regulations and security procedures. Detect and prevent fraudulent activities. Collaborate effectively with teammates to ensure smooth operations. Core Competencies All KeyBank employees are expected to demonstrate Key’s Values and abide by Key’s Code of Conduct. Physical Demands Consumer Retail – Prolonged standing (5–8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, communication face‑to‑face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Driving Requirements Ability to occasionally operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. Compensation and Benefits This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $18.00–$23.08 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
