Position Overview - CDL Class B Driver (Explosives Delivery & Service) Charlestown, IN

We are thrilled to present an opportunity for a CDL Class B Driver within our Commercial team.

This hands-on position involves the safe operation of our bulk trucks (Mobile Manufacturing Units) to deliver and install blasting products for clients in mining, quarry, and construction sectors. This role is vital in ensuring safe and efficient blasting operations through equipment handling, product delivery, preventative maintenance, and outstanding customer service.

This hybrid role consists of approximately 40% driving and 60% physical fieldwork . You will work outdoors in various environments and weather conditions while loading, delivering, and installing bulk explosive products at customer locations.

Additionally, you will operate equipment to provide blasting products and deliver exceptional service to our clients. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks while meeting customer operational needs. We prioritize safety and aim to conduct all operations in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Local driving (2-3 hours)
  • Early morning starts around 6 AM
  • Approximately 8-10 hours of work per day
  • Overtime may be required
  • Up to 10% overnight travel may be necessary
Key Responsibilities
  • This hybrid role includes about 40% driving and 60% physical tasks.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking and replenishing fluid levels.
  • Operate emulsion tanker trucks and box trucks as part of daily duties.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements when handling, storing, and using raw materials and hazardous goods.
  • Minimize environmental impact through effective waste reduction and control practices.
  • Promptly report any unusual incidents or accidents.
  • Engage in daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings to foster a safe and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in driving and/or material handling (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting.
  • High attention to detail and basic math skills for managing daily inventory tasks.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple projects, daily tasks, and urgent situations to maintain efficiency.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is conducted outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and carry over 50 pounds of products or materials.
  • Ability to load products, pull large hoses, fill drilled holes, and climb on and off trucks is required.
  • Frequent shoveling of gravel to fill drilled holes throughout the day.
  • Regular pushing and pulling while operating equipment.
  • Other physical activities include frequent bending, squatting, and general mobility during the workday.
Required Credentials
  • Valid Class B CDL is mandatory (Class A is a plus).
  • Tanker endorsement is preferred.
  • Hazmat endorsement is preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain necessary endorsements—support will be provided.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay Range: $26-28
  • Signing Bonus: $4,500
  • (Salary will be determined based on the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market alignment.)
