Diesel Mechanic

MechanicThe Mechanic must have diesel engine and hydraulic system experience.Job Duties Including, but not limited to:Trouble shoot problems with machineryRepair engines, engine-cooling systems, drivetrain parts, brake systems, and basic electrical partsRemove and replace parts of hydraulic systems and tool attachments (shears, forks, grapples)Remove and repair some body parts, ladders, platforms, catwalks, and engine coversPerform limited torch cutting and weldingDrive company mechanic truck to various yards in a given regionClean up work area at the end of shiftInspect the safety of the equipmentRegular attendance and punctuality are essential job functionsOrganizing materials to have more effective use of spaceDispose of various waste materials in the appropriate mannerEffective housekeeping in workplace area is an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.QualificationsMust pass a preemployment physical and drug screenMust pass a background checkPreferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptableBi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plusAbility to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) basic math skills as the job demandsDiesel Mechanic school DOT maintenance or certification preferredPrevious experience with hydraulic repairsMust have diesel engine experience.Job ExpectationsComply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.Physical RequirementsWork Environment: Scrap yard, large equipment metal processing areaEquipment & Tools: Yard equipment, electrical Safety equipment, hand tools, and PPE specialized for electricians.Physical Demand Level: ModerateWork Capacity: Mechanic Work CapacitySensory Demands: Hearing, vision, smell, touchHand Movements: Repetitive motions, gripping, twistingSA Recycling offers:Competitive PayChoice of Medical plans, with Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance401k with a Company MatchWeekly PayReferral IncentivesCompany provided uniforms and PPEEligible for Safety and Profitability BonusesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
