Nursing Department Manager, Cardiovascular Operating Room FT

Location: Onsite, Los Angeles, CA

Job Description: Sign-on bonus of 10% (some restrictions apply).

Job Summary: Manages nursing services and ensures safe patient care within the Cardiovascular Operating Room. Oversees service delivery aligned with nursing standards, organizational goals, and performance measures.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manages 24-hour nursing services to meet or exceed cost, quality, and clinical standards.
• Establishes and maintains patient care and service standards.
• Develops strategic plans for integrated services across the care continuum.
• Manages continuous improvement in clinical practices, services, and operations.
• Monitors department budgets and identifies strategies for cost reduction and improved quality.
• Determines appropriate staff mix, screens, hires, and trains department staff.
• Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies and procedures.
• Manages human resource and risk management issues.
• Promotes an organizational culture of safety.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, including 3 years of management experience.
• Academic degree in nursing (Bachelors or Masters).
• Registered Nurse License (California).
• Basic Life Support.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, TJC, and other regulations.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and management skills.
• Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience with electronic medical records.
• Masters degree.
• National Certification in specialty.
• Management experience in a union environment.

Non-negotiable Requirements:

• CA RN license.
• American Heart Association BLS.
• BSN or MSN.
• Minimum 5 years of FT equivalent operating room RN experience in an acute care setting, with a few years of cardiothoracic OR experience.
• Minimum 3 years of FT equivalent Manager or Supervisor experience.

Position Overview:

This role manages the Cardiovascular Operating Room Department at Los Angeles Medical Center, overseeing 5 OR suites with approximately 35 direct reports.
