Key Responsibilities

• Perform animal husbandry and healthcare activities in accordance with experimental protocols, applicable regulations, and established veterinary and animal welfare procedures
• Maintain accurate records of animal care, preventive medicine, USDA-required documentation, and study protocol requirements
• Provide animals with appropriate feed, water, and enrichment materials
• Maintain, adjust, and repair animal pens, feeders, drinking systems, and livestock handling equipment
• Perform cleaning and sanitation of animal rooms and equipment
• Restrain and manipulate animals for routine and emergency procedures
• Conduct daily animal health and welfare assessments and communicate observations of illness, distress, or abnormal conditions to the Site Veterinarian or Group/Team Leader
• Administer treatments to animals as directed by the Site Veterinarian or designated personnel
• Conduct scientific clinical observations and disease outcome assessments
• Administer experimental treatment articles in accordance with approved study protocols, as applicable
• Accurately record scientific information using study protocol documentation and standard department forms
• Under appropriate supervision, administer and monitor sedation and perform euthanasia in accordance with study protocols and veterinary direction
• Perform site biosecurity activities, including water system sanitation, feed and fomite decontamination, and environmental audit sample collection
• Assist with clinical research and development sample collection before and after procedures, including blood, feces, oral fluids, nasal, tonsillar, laryngeal swabs, and tissue samples
• Assist with necropsies under the direction of the Site Veterinarian or designated personnel
• Provide guidance to junior team members when delegated by the Group/Team Leader or Site Veterinarian
• Participate in site-specific committees and workgroups, as assigned
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, study protocols, and standard operating procedures
• Support equipment sanitation, facility maintenance, and other activities necessary for safe and effective laboratory operations

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Bachelor's Degree
