Job Overview

The Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) is a medical expert dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare to individuals of all ages within a family context. This role serves as the primary healthcare provider, addressing a wide array of medical issues, promoting preventive care, and catering to the diverse health requirements of patients throughout their lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Perform detailed medical evaluations and assessments. Diagnose and treat various acute and chronic health conditions. Provide routine check-ups and preventive care services.
• Health Promotion and Education: Guide patients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and preventing diseases. Discuss appropriate screenings and vaccinations based on age.
• Chronic Disease Management: Oversee and monitor patients with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. Collaborate with specialists as necessary.
• Family-Centered Care: Encourage open communication to address family health issues. Work alongside other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.
• Record Keeping: Keep accurate and current medical records for all patients.
• Collaboration with Specialists: Consult and refer patients to specialists when required. Coordinate care plans with other healthcare providers.
• Emergency Care: Respond to medical emergencies and provide initial stabilization.
• Community Engagement: Participate in community health initiatives and educational programs.

Qualifications

• Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not involve supervisory duties.
• Required Education: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Required Experience: Completion of a 3-year residency in Family Medicine.
• Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current unrestricted State Medical License.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine.
  • Current State D.E.A. Certificate.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to ongoing medical education and staying updated on advancements in family medicine.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet patient demands.

Language Requirements

• Proficiency in English is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Spanish and Creole is advantageous.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this role. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions

The employee will work in an indoor environment, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature fluctuations. There may be exposure to noise levels that require the employee to raise their voice to be heard above ambient sounds.
