Director of Finance, FP&A
Confidential
The Director of Finance, FP&A will own the financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis processes that drive decision-making. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role reporting to the CFO (or VP of Finance), ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-growing SaaS/ environment and wants to build scalable finance infrastructure rather than maintain an existing one.
What You will Do
- Own the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial planning across the company
- Build and maintain financial models covering revenue (ARR/SaaS metrics), headcount, opex, and cash flow
- Partner with department leaders (Sales, Engineering, Customer Success, People) to develop and track budgets against actuals, explaining variances and driving accountability
- Deliver monthly and quarterly board- and investor-ready reporting packages, including KPI dashboards and management commentary
- Develop and track SaaS/fintech-specific metrics such as ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, gross margin, and rule-of-40
- Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions (pricing, hiring plans, new product investment, fundraising)
- Improve FP&A tooling and processes, including evaluating and implementing planning software as the company scales
- Support fundraising and banking relationships with financial models, data rooms, and investor materials as needed
- Manage and mentor FP&A analysts as the team grows
- Partner closely with Accounting to ensure alignment between actuals, forecasts, and the general ledger
- Own financial risk management, including identifying and monitoring financial, operational, and market risks, and maintaining the company's insurance program (coverage review, renewals, and claims support)
- Lead cost-benefit analysis on major initiatives, investments, and vendor/build-vs-buy decisions to inform leadership decision-making
- Manage the company's equity programs (ESOP/RSU), including grant tracking, vesting schedules, dilution modeling, and reporting, using Carta as the system of record
What You will Bring
- 8+ years of progressive finance experience, including FP&A leadership at a SaaS, fintech firm
- Strong command of SaaS/subscription financial metrics and unit economics
- Advanced financial modeling skills (Excel/Google Sheets required; experience with planning tools such as Adaptive Insights, Pigment, or similar a plus)
- Experience building or scaling an FP&A function at a growth-stage company (Series B–D or similar)
- Track record partnering with C-level executives and presenting to boards or investors
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex financial data into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA a plus
- Experience in banking, payments, etc.
- Must-have: Hands‑on familiarity with Carta, including entering/maintaining equity data and generating cap table, vesting, and dilution reports
- Experience managing equity compensation programs (ESOP/RSU) for a venture-backed company
- Experience with financial risk management and corporate insurance programs (coverage evaluation, renewals, broker relationships)
- Demonstrated experience conducting cost-benefit analysis to support major business decisions
