Histotechnician
$24 - $32 per hourLabcorp
Labcorp seeks a histotechnician to process tissue and body fluid specimens and prepare histopathological slides for microscopic examination in a Richland, Washington laboratory. The role involves embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control procedures on the night shift with potential overtime and weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination
- Section embedded tissue using microtome and mount sections on microscope slides
- Perform immunohistochemical tests on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections
- Execute routine and special staining procedures on mounted tissue sections
- Operate, maintain, and document preventive maintenance for manual and automated instruments
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Chemical Science, Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- 3+ months histology experience
- 3+ months immunohistochemistry experience
- Comfort embedding both large and small specimens
- Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
- High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills
Compensation: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour plus shift differentials
