In this role, you'll assist customers, stock and order supplies, handle cash transactions, and help keep the pharmacy running smoothly and looking its best. If you are detail-oriented, trustworthy, and passionate about helping people, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive oneAnswer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking refill ordersGather patient information required to prepare prescriptionsStock received product and supplies and mark stickers accordingly, and keep pharmacy supplies well stockedReview prescriptions that have not been picked up as requested by the department managerOrder product and supplies at the department manager's request and review invoices on product receivedLog invoices as necessary and complete cash transactions accuratelyPrepare paperwork and compile medicine for delivery orders and mail-outs at the request of the department managerCoordinate nursing home medicines as necessaryAdminister vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicableClean the pharmacy, empty garbage, and remove trash in a timely manner to ensure a clean and inviting appearanceMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information at all timesWork with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environmentAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedMaintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsFollow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with attention to detailAdd, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers accuratelyFile, post, and organize materials; copy data accurately between records; and gather basic information through customer interactionsGuide customers and provide clear, helpful direction in a professional and compassionate mannerMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient informationReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations, and Perishables; Pharmacy Department Manager; PharmacistsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent experience requiredOver six months up to one year of similar or related experience preferredVaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by lawPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in the pharmacy and dispensing area, including extended periods at a pharmacy counter or workstation while filling and processing prescriptionsAbility to count, pour, package, and label medications, and fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, in accordance with state and federal pharmacy regulationsExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with pharmacy operations and, where certified, immunization administrationAbility to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role in a pharmacy environment with daily exposure to noise and significant pressure to meet deadlines. There is occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding, including chemotherapy drugs. This pharmacy handles and prepares hazardous drugs; personnel of reproductive capability should be aware that exposure may cause acute and chronic effects, and that following all pharmacy policies and procedures is essential to minimizing risk. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $13.00 to $16.25 depending on experience.
