Registered Nurse 1 at New York State Schenectady, NY

Responsibilities Collaborate with the Article 16 Clinic nursing team to provide routine and emergent care services, including assessment, triage, vital signs, EKGs, finger‑sticks, catheterizations, IM and subcutaneous injections, minor procedures, and annual physicals. Process orders, consultation forms, prescriptions, and referrals in a timely manner, including electronic prescriptions and durable medical equipment justifications. Conduct laboratory work such as requesting, drawing, and processing blood, urine, stool, and pathology samples. Maintain equipment and supplies for procedures, including sterilizer testing, EKG, glucometer, and immunization kits. Manage temperature‑controlled storage for immunizations, labs, and biohazardous materials, ensuring compliance with OSHA and state regulations. Conduct triage of incoming phone calls, lab results, mail, and email, ensuring timely follow‑up by practitioners. Assist clinic clerical staff with scheduling, paperwork, faxing, and ordering medical records. Prepare and document patient assessments for telehealth and in‑person visits, including setting up telehealth appointments as needed. Cover nursing shifts at multiple locations such as the Adirondack Clinic and OT Heer office, and provide coverage for dental sedation nurse duties when required. Participate in incident investigations and other duties assigned by supervisors. Demonstrate ability to perform CPR compressions on a supine individual on the floor. Minimum Qualifications Current registration as a registered nurse in NewYorkState. Proficiency in Article16 rules and nursing procedures listed above. Basic CPR certification and the ability to perform compressions as described. Experience with pharmacy, lab requisitions, and electronic medical records. Knowledge of OSHA requirements, sterilization protocols, and biohazard waste handling. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility to cover multiple clinic locations and shift assignments. Selection Process Selection will be based on an interview and the applicant’s past work history.
