We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join a growing outpatient psychiatry practice in Santa Clara, California. The practice provides evidence-based psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults.

This position combines telehealth services with mandatory in-person clinical days at the Santa Clara office. The ideal candidate will have strong psychiatric assessment and medication management skills and be comfortable collaborating with a psychiatrist and other healthcare professionals.

The position offers flexible part-time scheduling, competitive hourly compensation, and the opportunity to increase clinical hours as the practice grows.

Patient Population

Children, adolescents, and adults requiring psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing mental health treatment.

ResponsibilitiesPsychiatric Evaluation and Treatment

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and follow-up appointments.

• Assess, diagnose, and manage conditions including ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and related psychiatric conditions.

• Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the psychiatrist.

• Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications in accordance with applicable California laws and clinical guidelines.

• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and treatment options.

Clinical Care and Collaboration

• Provide psychiatric services through telehealth and mandatory in-person clinical days at the Santa Clara office.

• Collaborate with the psychiatrist and other healthcare professionals on patient care and treatment planning.

• Coordinate care with therapists, primary care providers, and specialists as needed.

• Participate in case consultations and clinical discussions.

• Provide patient-centered, evidence-based psychiatric care.

Documentation and Compliance

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using DrChrono EHR.

• Track patient progress and document treatment plans.

• Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, professional standards, and clinic policies.

• Follow applicable California prescribing and controlled-substance requirements.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Active California Nurse Practitioner certification with psychiatric mental health specialization.

• Current ANCC board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain one.

• Eligibility to prescribe psychiatric medications in California in accordance with applicable state requirements.

• Strong psychiatric assessment, diagnostic, and medication management skills.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently within the applicable scope of practice and collaborate with the clinical team.

• Willingness and ability to provide in-person patient care at the Santa Clara office on scheduled clinical days.

• Comfort providing both telehealth and in-person psychiatric services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous outpatient psychiatry or behavioral health experience.

• Experience treating children, adolescents, and adults.

• Experience managing ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and related conditions.

• Familiarity with controlled-substance prescribing and medication monitoring.

• Experience using DrChrono or similar electronic health record systems.

• Experience collaborating with psychiatrists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Compensation and Benefits

• $100 per hour, negotiable based on experience.
