Job Title: Deburring Technician Casting Job Description

The Deburring Technician Casting is responsible for precision deburring of machined aerospace parts using a variety of hand and power tools, microscopes, and inspection methods. This role focuses on removing burrs and imperfections from high-value components while strictly following engineering prints, process documents, and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

• Deburr machined aerospace parts with a high level of precision and attention to detail, ensuring all work meets quality and engineering specifications.
• Operate variable-speed Dremel tools and die grinders with various types of abrasives to remove burrs and refine part surfaces.
• Use microscopes and borescopes of different variations to inspect and deburr internal and external features that require close visual examination.
• Deburr internal features by utilizing electrochemical processes, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Set up and operate compressed air wands to clean, cool, or assist in the deburring process as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, process drawings, and engineering prints to understand part requirements and deburring criteria.
• Utilize common handheld tools such as nylon buffing pads and wheels, knives, tube brushes, drills, reamers, chamfer tools, sandpaper rolls, abrasive wheels, and abrasive paper.
• Operate high-speed pencil grinders with various tip styles to access small or intricate features on parts.
• Handle and process high-value parts with care, maintaining strict control to prevent damage or defects.
• Work effectively in a manufacturing environment, following all safety, quality, and procedural guidelines.
• Perform other job duties as assigned to support production and quality objectives.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high-value parts that may have significant cost.
• Proficiency in using microscopes and borescopes to inspect and deburr small or internal features.
• Experience operating small hand and power tools, including variable-speed Dremel tools, die grinders, and high-speed pencil grinders.
• Ability to set up and operate compressed air wands safely and effectively.
• Capability to read and interpret blueprints, process drawings, and engineering prints in a manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working with sheet metal and machined components in an aerospace or similar precision manufacturing setting.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established processes and quality standards.
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for detailed deburring work on small or intricate parts.

• Previous experience in a deburring, finishing, or precision assembly role in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with aerospace components, quality expectations, and documentation practices.
• Experience working with electrochemical deburring processes or willingness to learn and follow specialized procedures.
• Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods while maintaining focus and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving skills to recognize and address potential defects or nonconformances during deburring.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks and support other duties as assigned.

This role operates in a manufacturing environment focused on aerospace components, where precision and cleanliness are critical. You will regularly work with small hand and power tools, including Dremel tools, die grinders, high-speed pencil grinders, and compressed air wands, as well as microscopes and borescopes for detailed inspection. The position follows a first-shift schedule, starting in the early morning and ending in the early afternoon on weekdays. You can expect to spend extended periods at a workstation or bench performing detailed deburring tasks, following all safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
