Job Summary

To work as part of a team to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical pharmacy services in Solid Organ Transplant in both theinpatient and outpatient setting; to ensure and promote the safe, rational, efficacious, and cost-effective use of drug therapy; to provide leadership for Solid Organ Transplant services including developing guidelines and policies,staff training activities, developing quality improvement processes, and to assistin the clinical training of staff, residents and students.

This will be a full-time, day shift (rotating weekends) position. This position is designed with a focus on abdominal transplant with split inpatient andoutpatient responsibilities. Additionally,this solid organ transplant pharmacist will cover lung transplant patients depending on cross-coverage needs.

Responsibilities *

  • Assistinthedevelopment,implementationandmonitoringofclinical pharmacypracticesconsistentwiththeHealthSystem?sneedsandobjectives.

  • Providepharmaceuticalcarebyactiveparticipationinmultidisciplinary rounds;designing,implementingandmonitoringpatient-specificpharmacotherapy,includingpharmacokineticsupport,nutritionsupportandanticoagulationmanagement;anddocumentingpharmaceuticalcare activities.

  • Assistinthedevelopmentofstaffeducationalandtrainingprograms withinandrelatingtothesolidorgantransplantserviceline.

  • Actively participate in the training of staff, residents, and students from the College of Pharmacy.

  • Leaddruguseprojects,costreduction/managementinitiatives,andqualityimprovementactivitiesconsistentwiththeHealthSystemsneeds and objectives.

  • Individualorcollaborativescholarly/researchactivityisencouraged.

  • Providedruginformationandeducationtopatientsandcaregivers.

  • ParticipateinUMHScommittee(s)relatedtothecareofsolidorgan transplant patients.

  • Local and National Professional Organization Involvement is encouraged.

Required Qualifications *

  • A Doctor of Pharmacy degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

  • A certificate of completion from a specialty residency in solid organ transplant, fellowship, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is necessary.

  • Experience in clinical pharmacy practice is necessary.

  • Licensure as a Pharmacist by the State of Michigan is necessary.

  • Possession of a Michigan Controlled Substances license is necessary.

Desired Qualifications *

Solid Organ Transplantation Pharmacy Specialty Certification (BCTXP). Ability to perform a variety of manual dexterity movements, including keyboarding and IV preparation, actively participating in codes. Fluency in reading, writing and speaking english.

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

This will be a full-time, Day shift M-F (rotating weekends) position.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
