Plumbing Design Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Design Technician for a hybrid contract opportunity supporting complex building and industrial facility projects in Cincinnati, OH. This role is ideal for a senior plumbing design professional who is confident developing detailed plumbing systems, coordinating across engineering disciplines, and supporting projects from design through construction.

This opportunity offers a collaborative engineering environment where technical expertise, problem-solving, and clear communication are valued. The Plumbing Design Technician will work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and construction teams while contributing to high-quality design solutions for sophisticated facilities. Key Responsibilities

- Develop detailed plumbing designs for construction, including domestic hot and cold water, waste and vent, and stormwater systems.
- Create and maintain plumbing models and design documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate plumbing designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in design coordination, clash detection, clash resolution, and constructability support.
- Review and respond to RFIs and shop drawings while providing design support during construction.
- Conduct occasional project site visits to document existing plumbing conditions and support construction-related activities.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $38 to $43 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Develop plumbing system designs for building and industrial facility projects.
- Produce Revit models and AutoCAD documentation for plumbing layouts and construction documents.
- Coordinate plumbing designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support construction administration through RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and field documentation.

- 10+ years of practical plumbing design experience, or 5+ years of experience with an Associate's degree in a related technical discipline.
- Strong building plumbing design experience, including waste and vent systems, domestic hot and cold water systems, and stormwater systems.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD for plumbing design and documentation.
- Working knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and industry standards.
- Understanding of clash detection, clash resolution, and building system coordination.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, project management, client, and construction teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to coordinated project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience designing plumbing systems for industrial facilities, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, or similarly complex environments.
- Experience supporting projects through construction and responding to construction-phase design needs.
- Ability to learn new technical standards, workflows, and project-specific processes quickly.
- Forward-thinking approach with an interest in improving design practices, coordination methods, and project outcomes.
