Senior Software Engineer - Investment and Trading

Job Overview The Investment Technology department is an internal software engineering organization whose mission is to provide and expand the technical capabilities that drive our systematic investment process. Arrowstreet seeks to design investment portfolios that will, in expectation, outperform their respective benchmarks on a risk-adjusted basis. To do so, the firm relies on proprietary systems and applications that provide our investment teams with powerful capabilities to conduct research for alpha generation, implement investment strategies efficiently, accurately manage our client accounts, and provide in-depth analysis and reporting of our investment performance to our investors. Technology is integral to our long-term success, and outstanding engineering talent is essential to the firm’s ability to meet its investment performance and fiduciary goals. We look out for strong, motivated and collaborative technologists passionate about building production-quality solutions using modern technology. The position is part of a team responsible for designing and implementing software platforms for hosting micro services, event-driven real-time communication between components, and a common web platform for micro front ends. A successful candidate must be passionate about technology and understand software design patterns, be self-motivated, process-driven, and a problem solver. Responsibilities Architect and build new features into a growing platform. Propose architectural changes that benefit the platform, eliminate failures, and prevent race conditions. Continuously learn new technologies to see how they can add value to the company. Support a large development community. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of professional software development experience using Python or another object-oriented language. Ability to write elegant code and comfortable with picking up new technologies. At least 3 years of experience building resilient CI/CD pipelines, strong knowledge of Git, and familiarity with a DevOps platform. At least 2 years of experience with Cloud, preferably AWS. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Experience working with message/event-based architectures. Great communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrated experience interacting and solving problems with users. Maturity, accountability, and ownership of projects/tasks, able to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience working within a distributed computing environment. Good collaboration with other teams within IT and a mindset for solutions that leverages a common foundation and development principles. Experience with automated testing frameworks is a plus. Platform Engineering or Composable Application experience would be a plus. Cloud Certification at developer or solution architect level would be a plus. Compensation The base salary range for this position is $135,000 – $325,000 per year. Total compensation includes base salaries, annual discretionary bonuses, and a robust benefits package. The base salary placement within the range will vary based on relevant experience, qualifications, certifications, and job responsibilities.
