Inside Sales Representative – Lumber & Building Materials

Jordan, MN

Our client is a thriving and well-respected lumberyard known for helping homeowners, DIYers, builders, and contractors get their projects done right. They're busy, growing, and looking for an Inside Sales Representative who knows building materials and wants to put that knowledge to work in a customer-focused sales role.

This is an opportunity to use your residential construction knowledge without cold calling, prospecting, or bringing a book of business. Customers come to you with a project; your job is to ask the right questions, understand what they're trying to accomplish, and help them determine the building supplies and materials they need.

Does This Sound Like You?

• You understand how residential construction projects come together and can talk intelligently about lumber, roofing, siding, decking, windows, and other building materials.

• You enjoy the problem-solving side of sales—asking good questions, figuring out what a customer is trying to accomplish, and helping them make good decisions.

• You're comfortable working directly with homeowners, DIYers, builders, and contractors and can explain construction and product information in a way that makes sense.

Your Background Might Include:

There's more than one path that could prepare you to succeed in this role. Your past job titles and experience likely includes some of the items below.

• Job Titles like Inside Sales, Inside Sales Representative, Sales Representative, Counter Sales, Customer Service, Estimating, or Project Management in a building materials or construction-related business

• Working for a big box home center, lumberyard, hardware store, building materials dealer, or construction supply company

• Knowledge of Home improvement, remodeling, roofing, siding, decking, windows, or another residential construction or building-products category

• Experience with estimating, preparing estimates, material takeoffs, reading blueprints, project planning, or helping customers determine material needs

• Using ERP systems like Epicor BisTrack, Eagle, ECI Spruce, or RockSolid Max

What You'll Get To Do

• Guide customers through project planning and material selection, helping turn an idea or set of plans into the materials needed to complete the project

• Work on everything from sheds, garages, roofing and siding projects to larger residential construction and remodeling projects

• Support both DIY and Pro customers

• Prepare estimates and material lists and help make sure customers have what they need before the project gets underway

• Expand your building materials and product knowledge through manufacturer and industry training
