Special Education Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY Full-time /Onsite The Special Education Instructor / Special Education Program Specialist position requires providing a wide range of direct special education instruction to pediatric to young adults with moderate to profound autism, across a clinic-based and center-based setting, including the rendering of educational assessments and evaluations, developing treatment plans, individual and group lesson planning, progress reporting, programming development, classroom management and event planning, data collection, familial collaboration, general special education service delivery and scheduling, coaching/training/mentoring support staff and instructional aides, and participating in routing multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary team meetings. Additionally, with this position we require that you train and certify to obtain a dual credential as an RBT, a secondary element to this position will train and support applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to participants, under the coaching direction of a BCBA or BCaBA in the Center which shall include behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols in addition to providing the support required to effectively teach adaptive skills, functional communication, social and academic skills in the center-based program. All services, treatment sessions, and activities shall be administered in accordance with all Beautiful Gate Center’s policies and procedures to ensure client safety, HIPAA compliance and driven results. Experience: •Minimum 3 years of experience working with children with profound autism and other complex disabilities •BCaBA or RBT certification preferred but not required Technology Skills: •Strong knowledge using PC, MAC, IPAD and TouchIt technologies. •Basic knowledge or exposure to use of Augmentative & Alternative Communication Hi-Tech Speech Devices in a therapy session – preferred skill but not required. •Working knowledge of Central Reach Behavioral Health & Medical Billing Software. •Working knowledge of Central Reach Data Collection Module •Strong working knowledge of Google Suite Platform: Drive, Calendar, Meetings, Etc. •Some conceptual and working knowledge with IEP third party software platforms •Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint •Strong Knowledge of office technologies, i.e: iCloud technology for record keeping and document storage uploads, fax, scanner, label makers, laminating machine, printers, walkie-talkies, etc. Beautiful Gate Center – Special Education Program Specialist/ Updated 5 May 2024 Registered Behavioral Technician Page 5 of 5 Other Requirements: •Strong organizational and electronic record keeping skills required •Strong written, oral and soft communication skills required •Demonstrate ability to be flexible and adapt to change. •Always maintain professional appearance with staff and clientele •Aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving required •Intermittent and minimal travel may be required for training, special meetings, BGC events, in-home observations, business development, continuing education, conferences, and more. •Maintain licensing, certification and CEUs every year. •Must pass background checks with drug testing, fingerprinting included •CPR, First Aid and Crisis Prevention Certifications, preferred •References and work materials may also be verified. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to clients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of clients and reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting special needs children when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite therapies. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a clinical out-patient environment and may require the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
