Job Summary

Join a dedicated team as a Travel Registered Nurse on a 64-bed Medical Surgical/Stroke Stepdown unit at a prominent facility in Utica, New York. This role focuses on providing high-quality, compassionate care to adult patients presenting with a diverse range of conditions, including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical-surgical diagnoses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, medication administration, and the management of specialized equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes. This is a night shift position, requiring a commitment to 12-hour shifts, three days per week, with a focus on collaborative patient care within an interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with various medical-surgical and stroke-related diagnoses.
• Manage patients with altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and pulmonary conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments, including those requiring IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting observations accurately in the EMR.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including floating to other units as required.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
• Wear navy blue scrubs as per unit policy.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit with Stroke Stepdown experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, 3 days per week.
• Proficiency in EPIC EMR system.
• Ability to float to other units as needed.
