This role focuses on fabricating and welding units to precise blueprint specifications to ensure they function safely and effectively. You will interpret technical drawings, prepare and assemble materials, perform high-quality MIG welding, and verify that finished units meet both customer and internal standards. Accurate documentation and collaboration with Quality Control are essential parts of this position.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, and drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements for each unit.
• Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on materials or work pieces using tape measures and other tools to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Assemble components and units to match blueprint specifications, ensuring proper fit and alignment before welding.
• Tack pieces together as indicated on the blueprint or as needed to stabilize assemblies prior to final welding.
• Perform MIG welding on components and assemblies to create strong, leak-free welds that ensure units hold liquid without leaks and function properly.
• Grind and finish welds and surfaces as needed to meet quality and safety standards.
• Pre-inspect completed units to verify that customer and company expectations have been met before final quality checks.
• Complete required paperwork and unit labeling, including stamping and other identification processes.
• Ensure each unit is inspected by Quality Control and address any issues or rework identified during inspection.
• Assemble and return all paperwork to the proper location to maintain accurate production records.
• Accurately document all time spent on each unit using the E2 time ticket process or equivalent time-tracking system.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety procedures related to welding, grinding, and working around moving parts.
• Stand, bend, and twist as needed throughout the shift to perform welding and assembly tasks in various positions.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience working as a welder.
• Proficiency in MIG welding techniques with the ability to produce strong, consistent, and leak-free welds.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings for fabrication and assembly.
• Experience with fabrication processes, including assembling components to specification prior to welding.
• Competence in using a tape measure and other measuring tools to mark and scribe accurate dimensions on materials.
• Skill in grinding and finishing welds and surfaces to meet quality and safety standards.
• Ability to document work time accurately using systems such as the E2 time ticket process or similar.
• Physical ability to bend, twist, and stand throughout the duration of the shift in a production environment.
• Comfort working in an environment with fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts while following safety protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairmont, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
