It is the first DOC-owned, privately managed correctional facility in Indiana and has been operated by The GEO Group since 2005. The facility houses incarcerated individuals across security levels 1-4, including those with special needs and maximum-security classifications. Incarcerated individuals have access to medical care, educational services, therapeutic programming, and vocational training. Staff support a rehabilitative approach that promotes accountability and growth. Partnerships help ensure individuals receive services tailored to their needs.Role Overview: As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operation of a diverse group of skilled trade Foremen and Technicians. The primary function of the Maintenance Supervisor is to ensure work is completed with a high degree of quality in a safe and secure manner while adhering to the priorities set forth by the Physical Plant Director.Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:Plan the work schedules based on priorities and deadlines for providing facility and maintenance services.Identify resource needs, review needs with appropriate management staff, and allocate resources accordingly.Develop and recommend work rules and quality control processes impacting operations.Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety-related rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Investigate accidents.Prepare and maintain work reports such as work logs, timesheets, accident reports, etc.Install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, paint, carpet, appliances, mechanical, and other related systems in all facility locations.Inspect, operate, and maintain the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (including boiler system) in all facility locations.Provide equipment, procedural, and systems training to new and existing employees to perform the requisite job skills.Responsible for administering the budget line items for maintenance and repair.Maintain sufficient inventories of tools, parts, and supplies to properly service the facility and grounds.Order, prepare specifications, and purchase supplies, equipment, and contract work according to required purchasing and bidding procedures.Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Advanced knowledge of variety of trades related to installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and other related systems in all facility locations.Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.Advanced knowledge of the tools, methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades.Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules governing repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities.Working knowledge of and ability to plan, understand, and interpret detailed plans, specifications, and blueprints.Ability to make long-range plans, schedule preventative maintenance and seasonal maintenance, as well as prioritize routine and emergency repairs.Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 2 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
