Job ID: BROADBEAN_362241785771854Location: Reading, BerkshireContract: Full-timeIndustry: ITSalary: 70,000 - 90,000 per yearRecruiter: Kent OsbornE-Mail: View email address on click.appcast.io Technical Leadð Reading / Hybrid (UK-based - mix of home, office, and client site) ð Must be eligible for SC ClearanceWe are seeking an experienced SRE Technical Lead to act as the technical authority for Site Reliability Engineering across complex, large-scale platforms.This is a senior, client-facing leadership role where you will be responsible for driving reliability, availability, and operational excellence across multi-team and multi-vendor environments.You will combine hands-on engineering expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring SRE practices are embedded across the full service lifecycle-from design through to production operations.As the SRE Technical Lead, you will:Define and implement SRE strategy, standards, and best practices, including SLAs, SLOs, and error budgetsEmbed reliability principles into platform and service design from the outsetLead key SRE practices such as reliability reviews, operational readiness, and toil reductionDrive automation across monitoring, incident response, and remediationAct as the technical escalation point for major incidents and high-risk releasesLead blameless post-incident reviews and ensure continuous improvementEstablish observability and capacity management practices using modern toolingIdentify and eliminate systemic reliability risks and operational inefficienciesCollaborate with engineering, platform, security, and operations teams across multiple vendorsProvide coaching and mentorship to engineers, raising SRE capability across the organisationEssential experience:Deep expertise in Kubernetes and/or OpenShiftExperience working in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environmentsStrong understanding of SRE principles (SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, reliability engineering)Hands-on experience with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Tempo)Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and GitOps (e.g., Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD, Tekton)Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automationProven ability to operate as a technical leader in complex, multi-team environments
