Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center is seeking a travel RN for a rehab position. The shift is from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM, with five shifts per week for a total of 40 scheduled hours. The duration of the job is 13 weeks, starting ASAP. This is a first-time travel position with a weekend requirement every other week. The average daily census is eight, with seven rooms and 14 beds. Float is possible to MS and ortho. Call is required depending on patient census. A CA state license is needed, with no pending licenses accepted. Hospital highlights include a royal blue scrub color and no more than seven days of RTO restrictions.

Job requirements include two years of experience, Epic charting system experience, and skills in acute inpatient rehab, administration of blood & blood products, angina, anticoagulation therapy, antiseizure, assistive devices, blood glucose monitoring, care and management of ports, chronic renal failure/dialysis, CVA, diabetic teaching, diuretics, fall risk assessment/prevention, feeding devices/adaptive equipment, Foley catheter removal, hypertension, incentive spirometry, infection prevention, insulin protocols, isolation precautions/PPE, lift/transfer devices, mobilization techniques, neuromuscular disease, NG tube insertion/management, oral/nasotracheal suctioning, pain assessment & management, Parkinson’s disease, patient teaching, PEG tube feeding and management, post cardiac surgery, post craniotomy, post MI, pressure ulcer assessment/prevention, pulse oximetry, pulse/CMS checks, restraints, seizure disorders, specialty beds, spinal cord injury, starting and maintaining IVs, stroke scale assessment, supplemental oxygen delivery, swallowing precautions, thickened liquids, total joint replacement, tracheostomy care/management, traumatic brain injury, venous blood draws, and wound care.

Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Patient diagnoses include stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, pulmonary conditions, amputations of the lower extremity, and multi-trauma. Special procedures include patients participating in three hours of therapy daily, a combination of PT, OT, and SLP depending on rehab diagnosis. One year of rehab experience is required.

Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby. If required for the assignment, the client agrees to supply communication devices at no cost to the provider or agency. If not provided, the client agrees to pay the agency for work-related cell phone use up to $50.00 per month. Housing options are limited, and travelers are encouraged to look into them.
