CustodianQualifications:High School DiplomaKnowledge of General Cleaning ProceduresAbility to Successfully Perform Duties AssignedReports To: Building Principal, Head of Maintenance and Head CustodianPerformance Responsibilities:Maintain general cleanliness of the physical plant and grounds and insure a healthful and educational environment.Responsible for building security.Responsible for meeting safety requirementsInform the building principal of problem areas which may arise.Cooperate with other staff members to insure an atmosphere of mutual respect and professional harmony within the school.Perform such additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal to insure efficient and effective operation of the building.Complete all necessary physical preparations for special activities as assigned by the school principal.Perform such additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal to insure efficient and effective operation of the building.Perform regular custodial duties established for the shift assigned during the school year and during the summer including but not limited to:Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of the building.Keep building free of all fire hazards.Seep floors in designated room, mopping when needed.Remove waste paper and rubbish.Clean toilets, urinals, stools, lavatories and drinking fountains, disinfecting as needed.Clean door glass panes, window areas, light fixtures and replace bulbs as needed.Check and replenish soap, towel and toilet tissue dispensers.Keep drains clean and open.Assist in keeping lunchrooms in order including mopping cafeteria and kitchen areas.Dust and clean furniture, performing thorough cleaning and minor repairs during the summer.Take care of all emergencies and minor repairs, conducting routine maintenance checks and making adjustments as needed.Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.Consult regularly with maintenance personnel.Open the building at the beginning of the day.Responsible for overall cleaning of building during the summer.Responsible for stripping and refinishing all floors and assist with painting.Be available as scheduled for activities held in the building.Remove snow from steps, sidewalks as needed.Check water supplies as needed.Check lights and secure building at end of day.Prepare requisitions for custodial materials and supplies necessary to maintain and operate the building and submit requisitions to building principal.Promptly report necessary repair jobs that are outside custodial jurisdiction to building principal and/or maintenance supervisor.Assist maintenance personnel on special projects as directed by the building principal.Perform other duties as assigned by building Principal or Maintenance Supervisor.Adopted: 05/23/88
