Air Force Reserve Technician Position
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician at an associate wing, functioning as the wing focal point for supply operations. Provides oversight of supply operations, training for reservists, provide guidance and assistance to all wing personnel and supervision to a small number of subordinates. Duties include:
- Serving as the supply liaison between the senior ART and subordinate units within the wing, key staff, NAF, host support base and higher headquarters.
- Performing staff assistance visits to subordinate units to evaluate local management procedures, recommend corrective action, train personnel in correct procedures and ensure good working relationships exist between wing and host base supply accounts.
- Developing, providing guidance, and assuring implementation of the training programs, including annual tours for all reserve supply personnel assigned to the wing and any geographically separated units (GUSs). Participating in special projects and initiatives and performing special assignments related to supply functions.
- Serving as the wing focal point for all supply related matters during unit mobility exercises and deployments.
- Representing the wing at supply meetings and conferences with the host base supply function and at MAJCOM level.
- Maintaining surveillance of the wing supply program, coordinating with host supply and squadrons concerning changes, discrepancies and inventories related to the organization's equipment and supplies.

- Must obtain and retain the appropriate Secret security clearance level designated for the position

Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of logistics operating activities and their interface with various echelons on staff elements. Knowledge of accepted supply principles, concepts, and methods. Knowledge of supply operations to the total logistics incumbent has the ability to plan, analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the wing supply program NOTE: Must be reflected in your resume. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of college transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of college transcripts. FEDERALTIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of logistics operating activities and their interface with various organizations. Knowledge of a broad range of Air Force and DoD supply instructions, procedures, guidelines, and their relations to a total logistics supply program.
- Knowledge of supply operations to the extent that the incumbent has the ability to plan, analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the supply program.
- Knowledge of overall supply operation in order to serve as the authoritative advisor to the senior ART or delegated representative on all matters pertaining to wing supply support.
- Ability to use and maintain a computer system and supply software.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good working relationships.
- Skill in resolving logistics supply problems.
Other significant facts:
- This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow the incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTAs). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
- The incumbent must obtain and retain the appropriate Secret security clearance level designated for the position
- The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY) away from the normal duty station
- The incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands.
