Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN)A Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) is a recent nursing program graduate who is awaiting licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York State. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the GPN provides basic nursing care and supports patient treatment plans in healthcare settings.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide basic patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistanceMeasure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)Assist with wound care and simple medical proceduresAdminister medications only as permitted under supervision and state guidelinesMonitor patient conditions and report changes to supervising RNMaintain accurate patient records and documentationSupport infection control and safety protocolsAssist patients with daily living activities (ADLs)Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team membersSupervisionWorks under direct supervision of a Registered NurseCannot practice independently until fully licensed as an LPNGPNs are welcome!
