Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position at a Level IV Trauma, major teaching hospital in West Virginia, requiring at least 2 years of experience and proficiency with telemetry and progressive care patients.

Details

• 13-week assignment at a short-term acute care, Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with 838 staffed beds
• Unit: 3S CV Telemetry, caring for pre/post-op surgical cardiovascular, medical cardiac, vascular, amputation, and detox patients requiring progressive care and monitoring
• Patient ratio goal of 1:4, with a stretch ratio of 1:5; LPNs also work the unit and RNs may provide coverage for LPN patients depending on staffing conditions
• Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), weekdays with every other weekend required
• 36-hour or 48-hour weekly contract options available
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Charting system: Cerner
• Orientation is held every other Thursday
• Parking is complimentary for travelers

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending RN license may be considered
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry and PCU/IMC experience required
• IV insertion skills required
• Current BLS certification required; MAB certification preferred
• Experience with special procedures: ostomies, chest tubes, wound vacs/wound care, CPAP/BiPAP, central lines, PICCs, and drips (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and other cardiac drips)
• Clean RN license required; licenses with hits may be submitted for case-by-case approval
• Documents required for consideration: Driver's License and Social Security card
• Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); a documented medical allergy confirmed by an allergist or physician is the only accepted exemption

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify; those residing between 75–99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis with facility approval
• Former permanent employees of CAMC are not eligible to return as a traveler until at least 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
• COVID vaccine is not required
• Blocked schedule requests can be accommodated
• Royal Blue or White scrubs required for RNs
• This is a Level IV Trauma Center and a major teaching hospital, member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH)
