Interim Executive Director

We are seeking an experienced Interim Executive Director to provide operational leadership and stability for a 200+ senior living community (Assisted Living and Independent Living) during a transitional period. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of the community while partnering closely with department leaders to ensure strong resident satisfaction, regulatory compliance, team performance, and financial oversight. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, can quickly build trust with staff and residents, and has a proven background leading senior living communities through change, growth, or operational improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for the senior living community Lead and support department heads across operations, nursing, dining, activities, maintenance, sales, and resident services Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and company regulations and policies Drive resident satisfaction, quality of care, and positive community culture Manage staffing, employee engagement, accountability, and performance expectations Monitor occupancy, budgeting, financial performance, and operational KPIs Partner with regional leadership to execute strategic initiatives and operational priorities Support census growth and resident retention efforts alongside the sales and marketing team Address resident, family, and employee concerns with professionalism and urgency Maintain readiness for surveys, audits, and inspections Provide leadership continuity during organizational transition or permanent leadership recruitment Qualifications Previous experience as an Executive Director, Administrator, or Regional leader within Senior Living, Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care, or Skilled Nursing Strong operational leadership and team management experience Proven ability to lead through transition, turnaround, growth, or organizational change Knowledge of senior living regulations, compliance standards, and resident care operations Strong financial acumen including budgeting, labor management, and occupancy performance Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Ability to quickly assess operational needs and implement effective solutions Bachelor’s degree preferred State licensure or certification as required by local regulations
