Job Summary As a Low Voltage Systems Designer, you will play a hands‑on role in designing, documenting, and executing technology infrastructure for healthcare projects, focusing on innovative, sustainable low‑voltage and IT systems that directly impact healthcare delivery. You will work closely with healthcare users, IT/Biomedical teams, contractors, and other design professionals to ensure technical excellence and an engineering commitment to a healthier planet. Your Tasks Design and Documentation Create detailed designs, specifications, and documentation for low voltage and communication systems in healthcare settings. Develop and refine technical drawings and system layouts using software tools. Technical Analysis and Solutions Development Perform hands‑on assessments of healthcare IT and communication system requirements. Conduct site surveys on construction sites to identify and address technical issues. Review and respond to submittals and RFIs from contractors to ensure alignment with design intent. Collaboration and Integration Communicate clearly and effectively with contractors and vendors to support coordination and problem‑solving. Collaborate directly with internal design teams to ensure seamless system integration into larger project frameworks. Work with regulatory and compliance teams to align designs with industry standards. Client and Stakeholder Engagement Partner with healthcare users and IT/Biomedical teams to understand operational needs and translate them into actionable design solutions. Contribute to workshops, planning sessions, and technical discussions to deliver impactful, user‑focused solutions. Cost and Efficiency Improvements Provide detailed cost estimates and budgets, ensuring solutions align with client goals and project constraints. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, constructability, and sustainability in systems design. Work Location & Travel Hybrid position based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most work can be done remotely from home. Approximately 25 % travel is expected, mainly for project site visits within California, with occasional travel to other West Coast locations. Requirements Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or at least 7 years of equivalent experience without a degree, in design and implementation of low‑voltage and communication systems. At least 3 years of experience designing for hospitals. Demonstrated experience with California‑based healthcare projects and familiarity with state‑specific codes and requirements. Experience providing construction quality control for access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, overhead paging, nurse call, A/V, and television signal distribution on hospital projects. Solid understanding of healthcare IT and communication system challenges, including compliance with healthcare‑specific regulations and standards. Experience working with BIM teams to coordinate designs in Revit to produce construction documents. Experience developing internal project resource planning, reviewing project financials, and collaborating with accounting on invoices and revenue reports. Proficiency in Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Hands‑on problem‑solving and solution implementation approach. Strong technical documentation and drafting skills. Strong team communication abilities and willingness to speak in design meetings. Ability to travel domestically up to 25 %. Preferred RCDD certification. Experience providing construction quality control for 802.11 wireless, data network, VoIP, IT end‑user device placement, synchronized clocks, infant abduction, and/or two‑way radio on hospital projects. Leadership of user meetings to define technology system requirements and device placement. Proficiency in project management, cost estimating, and document management software. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and internal equity. Bonuses: Performance‑based. 401(k): Employer matching.
