Counselor Position: Counseling and Psychological Services, Eastern Connecticut State University Department: Student Affairs, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Position: Counselor, 10-month tenure-track Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Counselor position. The university is a public liberal arts institution located in Willimantic, Connecticut. The position offers substantial health and retirement benefits. Position Description Full-time staff position in the counseling and psychological services office. The center provides individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation to staff and faculty, outreach services, and training for Master’s and Doctoral-level practicum students. Provide individual and group counseling/psychotherapy and complete intake evaluations. Offer crisis intervention services. Supervise graduate-level practicum students and provide training. Participate in university committees and activities. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services. Qualifications Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology or social work, or a Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, with Connecticut state licensure as a psychologist or licensed practitioner of an equivalent field. Licensed to practice independently in Connecticut at the date of hire. Experience working with college-aged populations and knowledge of developmental issues of college students. Demonstrated sensitivity to multicultural and disability issues. Preferred: Three years of experience in a college counseling center, generalist clinical skills, assessment and diagnostic experience, strong interpersonal communication skills, administrative and supervisory skills. Desired experience includes working with students with disabilities, autism-spectrum disorders, and a comprehensive understanding of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ young adults in predominantly white institutions. Compensation and Benefits The position is compensated at the Administrative II or III salary level in accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
